Terms of service
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Who these terms are between
Signup Hub helps people organize events and sign up to bring items or take a time slot. These terms govern the Signup Hub website and service, including use by organizers and guests.
“Signup Hub,” “we,” and “us” mean Sean McKenzie, the individual who operates Signup Hub. Contact us at [email protected]. “You” means the person using the service and, if you act with authority for an organization, that organization.
By accepting these terms when creating an account, creating or publishing an event, submitting a sign-up, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not take those actions. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information; accepting these terms does not replace any separate consent required by law.
Eligibility and account security
To create an account, organize an event, submit a sign-up, or buy a subscription, you must be located in the United States, be at least 18, and be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live.
Give accurate information and use only email addresses and phone numbers you are authorized to use. You are responsible for your submissions and for use you authorize through your account. Keep your email account, phone, passkeys, sign-in links, verification codes, and guest management links secure. Anyone with a working management link may be able to view or change the associated sign-ups. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
You may start an event draft without an account. Unclaimed drafts expire after 30 days of inactivity and may be removed. Verify your identity and publish the event to make it available to guests. A draft is not permanent storage.
Organizers, guests, and events
Signup Hub supplies a coordination tool. Organizers run their own events and are responsible for their descriptions, locations, safety, permissions, accessibility, and changes. We do not supervise events, screen participants, verify what people bring, or guarantee attendance, food safety, or that any commitment will be fulfilled. Contact the organizer about the event itself.
Organizers must have permission to publish the information they submit and must handle any participant information they obtain lawfully. Do not publish someone else’s private information without authorization. Guests should make honest commitments and cancel or contact the organizer when plans change. Organizers may change, close, cancel, or delete an event or remove sign-ups.
Anyone who receives an event link can share it. Password protection restricts access to event details but does not stop a recipient from sharing the password or copying what they see. The event title appears on the password entry page. Do not put confidential information in public event fields.
Acceptable use
You must not use Signup Hub to:
- Break the law, infringe intellectual property rights, or violate someone’s privacy.
- Harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, or defraud anyone, or organize unlawful activities.
- Send spam or trigger unwanted emails or texts to someone else’s address or number.
- Access another person’s account or sign-ups without permission, bypass access controls or plan limits, spread malicious software, or interfere with the service.
- Collect payment-card details, government identification numbers, medical records, or similarly sensitive records in event descriptions, contribution names, or notes.
Signup Hub is not an emergency service or a system for keeping regulated medical or student records. Do not rely on a sign-up or reminder for an urgent safety need. Report abuse or suspected copyright infringement through our contact email, identifying the content, its location, your concern, and how we can reach you.
Payments, refunds, and plan changes
The Free plan does not require a payment card. Pro is an optional paid subscription. The price, currency, taxes, billing interval, features, and any trial are shown before you subscribe. The checkout offer and your purchase confirmation specify the amount and schedule you authorize. Using the free service does not authorize a charge.
Paddle is the merchant of record: you buy the subscription from Paddle, and we provide Signup Hub. Paddle handles payment collection, applicable transaction taxes, and billing support under its buyer terms. A Signup Hub subscription pays for access to the software; it is not a payment to an event organizer.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the interval you choose until canceled. If checkout offers a trial that converts to a paid subscription, it will explain the trial length, first charge, and renewal schedule. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid that charge. A trial is not included unless expressly offered at checkout.
To cancel renewal, open Settings → Billing → Manage subscription, which opens Paddle’s customer portal. You can also use the link in your Paddle subscription confirmation or contact Paddle buyer support. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Check the cancellation confirmation for the effective date. Simply stopping use or deleting an event does not cancel a subscription. Contact us if you cannot access the cancellation controls.
Refunds and withdrawal rights
Request refunds through Paddle buyer support. Paddle’s refund policy governs purchases through its checkout, subject to any more favorable rights required by law or expressly offered with your purchase. Cancellation alone does not automatically refund unused time. Nothing here removes any mandatory right to a refund, withdrawal, or remedy for a faulty or misdescribed service.
If a subscription ends or payment fails, Pro access may end and Free limits apply. We will disclose price or material plan changes before they apply to your subscription and obtain consent where required. You may cancel renewal before a change takes effect. A later price change does not alter the price of an already-paid billing period.
Email and text messages
We send service messages such as sign-in links, verification codes, sign-up confirmations, cancellation notices, and event reminders. Guests can stop event reminders from their management page. This does not cancel their sign-ups or stop every essential service message.
When SMS is available, we ask for separate permission before sending texts. Providing a number alone is not consent. Texts may be sent automatically; frequency depends on your actions and events. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to SMS is not a condition of purchase; you can use email instead.
Reply STOP to stop Signup Hub texts to that number across events and accounts. This also stops text verification codes and does not cancel sign-ups or a paid subscription. Text START to resume. Use a previously linked email or an existing management link if you need another access method. For help, contact us using the contact email above. Delivery depends on messaging providers and carriers and may be delayed or fail; carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages. Do not rely on reminders as your only record of an event.
Closing an account and ending access
You can request account deletion in Settings → Profile. The self-service process requires you to cancel or finish active personal events first. It requests cancellation of any renewing subscription before archiving your profile; if billing cancellation fails, deletion cannot complete. You can cancel billing separately through Paddle at any time. Contact us for help or to make a privacy request, including when self-service deletion is unavailable.
Archiving removes normal access to your profile and personal events. Deleting an event or canceling a sign-up is not the same as erasing all related data. Retention, later permanent deletion, and exceptions are explained in our privacy policy. Save any information you need before closing your account.
We may restrict access, remove content, or end your use for a material breach of these terms, nonpayment, unlawful conduct, or a security or abuse risk. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to address it. We may act immediately when needed to protect people or the service, or to comply with law. Contact us if you believe a restriction is a mistake. Mandatory refund and privacy rights continue to apply.
Your content and our service
You keep ownership of the content you submit. You give us a nonexclusive permission to store, copy, display, and transmit it only as needed to operate, secure, and support Signup Hub, including sharing it as you direct through event links and service messages. This permission lasts only as necessary for those purposes and the retention described in our privacy policy. It does not let us sell your content or use it in advertising without your permission.
We and our licensors retain ownership of Signup Hub’s software, design, and branding. Using the service does not transfer those rights to you. Separate open-source and content licenses remain in effect, including the license credited below.
Our privacy policy describes how we process information, including use of service providers and possible AI-assisted support, and when we access content for support, security, or legal purposes. An organizer is responsible for their own use of participant information outside Signup Hub.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Signup Hub useful and available, but do not promise uninterrupted operation, error-free software, message delivery, or permanent availability. Features and limits may change. If we discontinue a paid service or materially reduce it during a prepaid period, we will give reasonable notice where possible and arrange any refund or other remedy required by your purchase terms or law. We do not promise to operate Signup Hub forever.
Responsibility if something goes wrong
To the extent permitted by law, Signup Hub is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement. We are not responsible for an organizer’s or participant’s conduct merely because they use Signup Hub.
To the extent permitted by law, neither we nor our suppliers are liable under these terms for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost business opportunities. Our total liability arising from the service or these terms is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid for Signup Hub in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not exclude fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or consumer protection that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Where local law gives you stronger protections, those protections apply.
Changes, disputes, and contact
If we materially change these terms, we will give reasonable advance notice through the service or your contact channel, state when the changes take effect, and request renewed agreement where required. Urgent legal or security changes may take effect sooner. Changes do not retroactively remove rights that have already arisen.
Please contact us first about a problem so we can try to resolve it. That request does not prevent you from exercising legal rights, contacting a regulator, or bringing a claim in a court available under applicable law. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class actions. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply to the extent permitted by law. Questions and notices may be sent to the contact details at the beginning of these terms.
